Darcy Fedorchuk is a screen-based media producer and content creator who has been working in the industry for over two decades. A history degree major and graduate of the University of Regina School of Journalism, his experience extends to all aspects of production including producing, hosting, reporting, camera operation, editing, compositing, and web development.
Fresh out of journalism school, Darcy was hired by Canadian Learning Television as a producer, videographer, and editor for the weekly magazine-style show CareersTV. Highlights during this time include developing the skills to independently create a story from conception to completion (producing, shooting, and editing) and extensive international travel. During his tenure at CLT, Darcy spent time in the Balkans covering Canada’s involvement in the NATO-lead intervention in Kosovo, shot with Canadian aid workers in Guatemala, Nicaragua, and El Salvador, and covered Canadian entrepreneurs and students working and living in Japan. His stand-alone special CareersTV Goes Hollywood, featuring Canadian actors living in Los Angeles, won an Alberta Motion Picture Industry Award.
In 2003 Darcy joined Space as a senior EFP camera operator and field producer and was responsible for all aspects of shooting and lighting for the production department, both in the field and the studio. He also worked with Craig Cerhit as co-creator, producer, camera operator, editor, and writer for The Space Channel original documentary series SpaceDoc. Darcy spent a great deal of time on the road, primarily in Los Angeles and Vancouver, shooting set visits and behind-the-scenes specials about top productions in the Sci-Fi genre like Iron Man, Battlestar Galactica, Lord of the Rings, and many others. Darcy also shot interviews with industry notables like Kevin Spacey, Robert Downey Jr., Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell, Stan Winston, and Phil Tippett to name but a few.
In 2008 Darcy was promoted to Show Runner and was tasked with launching and then producing Space’s original series The Circuit. After successfully producing The Circuit for over a year he was then tasked with launching and producing InnerSPACE, the first daily show in the channel’s history.
Darcy became the Toronto-based producer for Victor Lucas and his team at Greedy Productions Ltd., (home of The Electric Playground, Reviews on the Run, and Greedy Docs) in 2010. With host Shaun Hatton he travelled the world covering “everything cool every single day” in the video game, film, television, and pop-culture industries. Highlights included the Hot Docs International Film Festival, the Toronto International Film Festival, and pop-culture Meccas like Pax East, Fan Expo, and New York Comic Con.
Darcy is currently Senior Manager of the Strategic and Editorial Content Team at TD Bank in Toronto, where they are working on revolutionizing in-house corporate production and broadcast content.
Darcy also has a robust career as a freelance producer and camera operator and has done work for MuchMusic, Al Jazeera, Global, and various independent production companies. His work on a documentary about genetically modified foods took him to Bangladesh and Thailand in 2003.
